My Butterfly Is Yellow

bar

Momma I am so scared,
please come and sit by me.
Tell my family I need them so,
for I do not want to leave.

butterfly

The time is getting close ...
my fear is so unreal.
Oh how I don’t want to let go,
I am not ready yet to say goodbye.

butterfly

Momma,
I have something to tell you;
“My Butterfly is yellow.”
Do you understand?

butterfly

Slowly my fear is leaving,
for Daddy is now beside me.
He is holding my hand gently
oh how I wish you could see.

butterfly

Daddy is telling me;
“Stay by my side”.
So momma please understand
my place is now with him on the other side.

butterfly

Daddy said he will walk with me
to show me the way.
Oh momma,
what can I say?

butterfly

I feel such a peace in my heart,
for there is no more fear.
I am going home now momma,
to be with the One so dear.

butterfly

I am so sorry for any heartache
… pain I might have caused you.
I do love you Momma,
and those I leave behind.

butterfly

Now I am “Spirit”.
No longer do I need this earthly body;
that held me captive
for ever so long.

butterfly

Look at me momma,
I am right beside you.
Can you not see?
I’m standing too.

butterfly

I’m dancing with dad now, momma
only he doesn’t have to spin my wheelchair around,
like you used too.
Now we dance side by side; two by two.

butterfly

Daddy and Uncle Gilles
are taking me now by the hand.
To a breath-taking meadow
of God’s butterfly land.

butterfly

One last thing momma;
a butterfly will come to visit you.
It will place a kiss upon your cheek
and you will know ... it is I.

In dreams, mythology, and art, a butterfly is an universal symbol of metamorphosis, a change from ugliness to beauty, from hate to love, and from this life to the next. Children in a Nazi concentration camp scratched butterflies on the walls of their cells. (Love, Medicine and Miracles by Bernie S. Siegel, M.D.)

I read this in a book called Dreams, "When seen in dreams or mediation, the butterfly represents the freed soul. There is no need for the soul to be trapped by the physical body."
