Letting Go into Life and Death
I have always hated lies and secrets, and I think death has become the biggest secret in our society today. It is a taboo subject, seen as a failure, a catastrophe, even avoidable!. I have, all my life, wanted to check it out — what is it? Why is it hidden, what are we afraid of, or, if we say we’re not afraid of it , why do we cover it up so much? 26 years ago this quest led me to India to a spiritual teacher, Osho, who answered many of my questions –
Since the first man breathed his first breath, men have been obsessed with the concept of death--the permanent end of the life of a biological organism. “As soon as one is born,” Luigi Pirandello once lamented, “one starts dying.”
Death And Dying: The Passing Of Souls
Souls choose the time of their death within a broad range of options. Though a range of possibilities may exist, the completion of a lifetime’s inner work is always the criterion for passing on. This is known to the soul, even when that completion takes place at a very early age – even when it occurs to a very young child or an infant.

Death is a topic many people try to avoid thinking and talking about! I know it’s uncomfortable, emotionally laden, and it isn’t the easiest to contemplate. But the fact is, no matter how much you try to avoid it -- it will eventually find you! No one escapes!

The journey is infinite, as are the capacities of each and every soul.

Our culture tells us that we should fight hard against age, illness and death: “Do not go gentle into that good night,” the Dylan Thomas poem says. “Rage, rage against the dying of the light.” And holding on to life, to our loved ones, is indeed a basic human instinct. However, as the end of life approaches, “raging against the dying of the light” often begins to lose importance, and “letting go” may instead feel like the right thing to do.
